Carnival Splendor Shifts From Miami to Port Everglades

carnival splendor bowCarnival Cruise Line has announced that the Carnival Splendor will shift from Miami to Port Everglades in 2017. According to an August 18th article in the Sun Sentinel, the shift is part of a new agreement between the cruise line and Port Everglades which extends Carnival’s contract with the port through 2030.

The new contract gives Carnival preferential rights to use of several of Port Everglades’ terminals, including the newly renovated Terminal 4. Carnival plans to make use of this increased access by bringing in more and bigger ships. The shift of Carnival Splendor to Port Everglades is the first of those moves.

There will still be plenty of Carnival ships ported in Miami following Carnival Splendor’s transfer. The Carnival Sensation is now cruising from Miami, along with the Carnival Fantasy, Glory, and Victory. And Carnival’s newest and biggest ship, the Carnival Vista will begin sailing from Miami in December of this year.
