Jewel of the Seas, part of the popular Royal Caribbean cruise ship fleet, travels all around the Atlantic Ocean with up to 2,501 guests on board. Among the more notable features are the 10-story "Centrum" atrium with glass elevators that look out over the water. Staterooms on the Jewel have a healthy percentage of outward visibility with 817 of the 1,055 rooms having an ocean view and 577 with balconies. (177 rooms have 3 or 4 berths and 19 are wheelchair accessible.)
Some Jewel of the Seas ship facts:
Inaugural cruise in: 2004
Maximum number of passengers: 2501
Number of pools: 3
Number of dining rooms: 5
Number of bars and lounges: 11
As if there wasn't enough water surrounding the ship, Jewel of the Seas also has plenty of the wet stuff on the ship - three pools and three whirlpools. There's also a surprising amount of golf on the ship, both the miniature variety and a golf simulator. A jogging track, basketball half-court and rock-climbing wall are available for those who insist upon working up a sweat while on vacation. We never gave much thought to the problems involved in playing pool at sea, but the "self-leveling" pool tables in the British colonial themed "Colony Club" have those problems all figured out.
The main dining area on Jewel of the Seas includes the large "Tides" and the smaller "Seaside" and "Shoreside" private rooms for groups of up to 100. Nowadays every respectable cruise ship has a steakhouse and the Jewel gains respectability with the "Chops Grille Steakhouse". You can get your gambler on in the "Casino Royale".
