MIAMI CRUISE GUIDE
Ports of call: Puerto Costa Maya - Roatan - Cozumel - CocoCay
Departure days
- Saturday
Icon of the Seas alternates between trips from Miami to the eastern and western Caribbean, with this westbound itinerary scheduled twice a month. The 7-night cruise begins with a day at sea as the ship makes the long-ish trip to the Costa Maya on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. This first stop in Mexico includes opportunities to travel inland to the ruins of Chacchoben and Kohunlich.
Roatan is on an island off the northern coast of Honduras, with lots of beaches, snorkeling and places to indulge in an adult beverage. The next stop is another visit to Mexico and another island, Cozumel, one of the most popular ports of call for cruises traveling this side of the Caribbean. Icon of the Seas then travels back north for a "Perfect Day at CocoCay", Royal Caribbean's private beach resort in the Bahamas.
Icon of the Seas is one of the biggest cruise ships on the planet with 2,805 guest rooms for up to 5,610 guests. Cruise ship geeks might be interested in knowing it was Royal Caribbean's first liquified natural gas-powered ship when it entered the fleet in 2024. Despite its massive size, guests are never too far from a place to take a dip, with seven different pools. And with 40 different places to grab something to eat or drink, you'll usually be within sight of one or more of them.
