The World’s Largest Cruise Ship is Coming to Miami

Rendering of Symphony of the Seas

The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas, will home port in Miami beginning November of 2018.

The new ship will launch in April of 2018 and spend the summer season cruising in Europe before arriving in Miami November of 2018. Once in Miami, Symphony of the Seas will be there to stay, making its home base in south Florida and sailing a year-round itinerary of 7-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Most of Symphony’s Caribbean cruise itineraries also include stops in the Bahamas.  2018 Caribbean cruises from Miami aboard the Symphony of the Seas are booking now.

The layout for this enormous ship is based on a series of “neighborhoods.”

There’s the Boardwalk, with a sports bar & arcade, candy & ice cream shop, a hard-carved carousel, and the AquaTheater featuring aquatic acrobatics and high-dive performances.

Central Park is an open-air neighborhood where lush plantings create a quiet atmosphere for relaxing, shopping, or dining at an outdoor bistro,.

Design for Symphony of the Seas Central Park

The Entertainment Place neighborhood provides just what you might expect – lots of venues, large and small, for dancing and enjoying music, catching a comedy show, trying your luck at casino games, or more even going ice skating or playing some glow-in-the-dark laser tag.

For outdoor active fun, there’s the Pool and Sports Zone. This is where you’ll find the beach pool, the Ultimate Abyss and Perfect Storm water slides, FlowRider surf simulators, a zip line, and mini golf.

The Royal Promenade is the ship’s Main Street. This is where you’ll find shopping, dining, and bars – including the Bionic Bar with robot bartenders.

Kids get their own neighborhood with the Youth Zone, with special activities and facilities for young travelers from tots to teens.

And, the Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center provides the largest spa and fitness center at sea.
